A labial frenulum is a piece of tissue that connects the lip to the gum tissues. A lingual frenulum is a piece of tissue that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth. When frenulums are short or tight, they can restrict movement of the lip or tongue. Restrictions can affect eating, speech, breathing, and other functions.
Tethered oral tissues are common and are present at birth. Infants with lip or tongue tie can have difficulties breastfeeding. Children with lip or tongue ties can have issues with speech, breathing, and other functions.
Tight upper lip ties can impact nursing and can cause dental issues later in life.
KC Tongue Tie Co. is dedicated to identifying and treating lip and tongue ties in infants, children, and adults!
